I've raced 2 different S2000's in a straight line and I'm afraid some of the other anwsers are mistaken. Maybe on paper 240hp vs 230hp with high torque seems like an even match but this is not the case.
I've dynoed my car at 270 flywheel (284 corrected for temp) and in both races in a 3rd gear situation I was just marginally faster than the Honda -maybe gained a car length or so.
I have also raced a Viggen which was quite a bit slower than me...

The only encouraging thing I can say is that although these cars have very good theoretical 0-60, they are extremely hard to launch -that or whoever drives one is a stupidly bad at launching. Both launched just about the same as me, and my launches have got room for improvement. So if you get a good start and reduce your front tire pressure 4-5 psi for more grip, (I run 36 to protect the rims) with good luck you may even get a head start.
You may thus avoid humiliation, but don't forget that Saabs have very slow shifting gearboxes as well compared to the S2000...

If you look more carefully at the specs you will see that the Honda weighs just 1200kg (*2.2 for lbs) compared to 1400+kg of the Saab. That's 15% less. Also, torque is good for spirited 3rd gear driving in the mid rpms, but unfortunately what counts in a race is power.

As far as handling, well the S2000 has exceptional handling and a very rigid frame. It is a true sports car. On a track however unless both of you are very very good drivers who can approach the limits of both cars, I think that possibly whoever takes the most risk in cornering speed will make the difference. But with equal driving the S2000 will be quicker no question.

Don't feel disappointed whatever happens; you'll be giving him a run for his money in a large, front wheel drive, family-oriented Saab.
