You guys are missing the true culprit that started this discussion in the first place.
First, the 0-60 times you see in Magazines are not real world driving conditions.
For the RX -8 to achieve 5.8sec from 0-60 you have to launch the car at 7000rpm...and guess what....that's the range where is makes all 240horses.
If you look carefully, most high HP cars with low torque has better 0-60 times compared to the 0-100 time.
Eg. My Viggen stage 3 280hp 320ft/lb 0-60 in 5.8sec 0-100 12.5sec vs.
RX-8 238hp 159ft/lb 0-60 in 5.8sec 0-100 in 15.9sec.
Or WRX STI - 300hp 300ft/lb 0-60 4.8sec 0-100 13.3sec
My point is - you buy HP and Drive Torque. It is all realtive to the way you drive, weight to HP ratio and don't believe everthing you read.
