Truth is the cassette adapter hiss and ticking sound is about as bad as it gets.
When I first tried the FM converter, I was less than impressed, but then I read a thread about using the rear seat cigarette lighter (DOH! I don't smoke and never sit in the back seat, so I never even thought of that option).
When I did that, the quality improved dramatically. Not like being hard wired, and not like my home stereo - but then again, if my house was moving at 70mph, my home stereo may not sound all that good either (what with the breaking wood, screaming, etc.) <grin>
Time for more coffee....
