Recently had a older van totaled in a fender-bender, other guy's fault. Insurance offered a reasonable but not lucrative settlement and said it was not negotiable. It was not as low wholesale value or as high as I could have bumped it on Kelly BB, Edmunds, or NADA. They did give credit for new tires and low miles but deducted for condition of the paint. They also paid for the use of rental car for almost 2 weeks. Might be worth noting for others that insurance adjuster originally did not total it but said the damage was about 1/2 the totaled value and sent me a check. If I hadn't taken it in to actually get it fixed and pocketed the money I'd been screwed, although you could argue that I could have parted it out for the difference.
