Almost forgot, they owe you the pro-rated balance of your most recent tag/tax payment. This is over and above the negotiated value.
Hold that receipt and any other receipts (purchases or maintenance) until you agree on the car's market value. Then try to tack them on to that total. Think of it as your "profit" margin.
And don't forget to take a digital shot of your fuel gauge.
I had 16 gallons of premium 92 octane in the tank when they totaled me.
