the saab turbo motors are strong enough to handle 300+ hp with a lot of reliability. The reason why they sell a 170hp 9-5 is to offer something everyone can afford and not compete with the aero. I'm coming from a 9000 point of view, there is NO difference between 175hp, 200hp and the 225hp motors, just a turbo and software. I've taken my 9000 aero to 300hp with software and exhaust. Cost around $1500 to do it. So now I have purchased a "new" 9000 aero + $1500 in modifications and I can run down BMW 540's. I know you shouldn't compare modified cars to others that aren't, but I drive the car daily and it's real world experience that tell me I've gotten a very good bang for the buck.
