I bought my 9-5 se (1999) as a Saab Certified (Program) car 5 weeks ago. It only had 29,000 mi, clean carfax, Saab certified, and saab threw in a 100k bumper to bumper warranty. First, let me say the car runs and handles like no other car I've ever owned...thrilling, safe, solid, great road car (I drive 110 miles a day to work and back thru rural areas)....great ride, that is, when it's running.

I am taking my third day off to take the car into the dealer for the fourth time since I bought it. I am VERY tired of sitting in the service waiting room every 2 weeks, that's not why I bought the car....

First it was the fog lamps and headlight washers (okay, so a little punch-out upon delivery - no problem). 1 Week later, the engine went into 'limp mode', turns out the computer had gone bad...they swapped it for the 'new, improved' computer. Last week, (again on the way to work - 90 miles form the dealer), into 'limp' mode again.....Drag ass back to dealer, this time it's the throttle body....what? the throttle body? How does a thorottle body go bad?

They couldn't fix it, told me to come back, came back, didn't have time to fix that day, I'm going back today....

My question is this to all you 9-5 lovers....I bought the Saab because of performance, reliability, and safety (and the 100k warranty). And, frankly, I do like the car - the drive, the road handling, etc, etc...but I did not buy the car to sit in the dealer every 3 or 4 weeks pretending that I have a great car. I just don't have the time.

Is this the shape of things to come? Am I to expect these kinds of ongoing issues for the duration? I still have my Toyota Camry, 190,000 miles, not a second's problem...as with my other cars over the years.

So be honest, anyone, and expecially if there are any Saab mechanics out there -- you guys are the real experts here -- tel me what's going on...

THANKS! any help is appreciated.
