Because you're a manual transmission person, a lot of the cars mentioned are probably out of the running. I drove and really liked a Subaru WRX (also considered a Ford F-150 Lightning, but hey, I'm strange).
The WRX is a great car but you've got to "drive it like you stole it" to make it really go. The front-seat space is much better than my old car ('99 A4 2.8QM) but the back is terrible. It's not nearly as refined as others, too.
I ended up with an '02 Aero manual, and I really dig it. It's also nice not to see yourself on the road all the time, like with Maximas, 3 series, etc.
