Quote: "Have you ever been involved in an accident (or know anybody that was involved in an accident) where there were no witnesses at the time or shortly thereafter?"
Yes, I have heard about many instances in the news. Like some woman who drove off the road, crashed, was knocked unconscious and couldn't move for days (she woke up in a few hours). It wasn't until three days later when a child on a school bus saw her car, told the bus driver about it, and authorities finally found the woman and saved her life. If she had had OnStar she would have been saved very quickly.
Quote: "With seat belts and airbags (and safe Saabs), you've got to be involved in a pretty serious accident to be knocked unconcious."
Agreed. But it's not just that. What if, like in the story above, you were conscious but just couldn't get help?
Quote: "When I didn't walk away, the electrical system of my car was shot. I don't think this is "so rare"
Well, from what I have read in news articles, etc., it is fairly rare. Can it happen, yes, of course. Does it mean I don't want the service because it isn't 100% guaranteed? Of course not.
