Thanks J---
Ever watch what happens when the raw meat is thrown into the shark tank at Sea-World ?
You've got everybody all revved up over nothing. How many SAABs have you had with DI's ? And how many behind-the-wheel miles have you recorded on DI equipped SAABS ?
From over 7 (seven) DI equipped SAABS I had, and over 500,000 miles of driving, one failure on a '98 turbo at 25k miles--replaced under SAAB original warranty, and one at 110,000-115,000 miles on a '91 9000.
The original complaint I had on the '98 was for excessive spark knock. The car never died.
Never carried one in the trunk. Never felt the need to.
Reliability is FAR SUPERIOR to the distributor days of Bosch CIS and Motronic.
Saab warrants this DI for 4 x 50 in the USA. Beyond that, its a "consumable" item like brake pads, rotors, fuel filters and the like.
It's laughable to ask them to warrant it for 100,000 miles--SAAB would open itself up to millions of dollars in class action lawsuits if it did.
People should not be afraid to drive their SAABS. They are very dependable.
There are a thousand other parts on a car, any car, any MAKE of car, that if they fail, can strand an owner.
