I had my winter wheels balanced on a Hunter balancer this year, and askd the shop to use a torque wrench instead of the torque stick. They only had athe stick,and claimed it was the 80lb.ft version that would match the Saab specs for wheel torque. I just took off those wheels this weekend to go over to summer,and the fronts came off with far too little effort,whereas the rears needed a long breaker bar and an extra power bar for me to get them loose.I carry my torque wrench in the trunk of my car now, and will pass on the torque stick for the security of knowing that my torque wrench will do the job more accurately. My mechanic, who usually has the best information onthis topic, believes that the sticks work well, and uses them in his shop, but I'm no longer comfortable with them after seeing the huge variation in my wheels from this winter.
