I recently acquired a set of these. Being a little squeamish, I have regularly re-checked them with my torque wrench. Because my line pressure drops a lot at the wrench, I have never seen an over-torqued lug using the stick, usually about 5 ft-lbs under indicated. I'll probably continue to follow up manually but the stick brings them very close and never overshoots. I'm sure this isn't true if the line pressure is jacked up too high.
Another thing with the newer Saabs (and others?) that use lug bolts rather than nuts. The apparent torque required to remove the lug is hugely dependent on how evenly they were torqued to begin with. The bulk of the often-excess apparent torque (like needing a pipe on the breaker bar!)is actually the conical surface of the bolt head interfering with the mating surface in the wheel. I use Never-Sieze on this surface as well as the threads and tighten in stages, even with the stick. JohnB, I believe, had an elegant explanation of the forces at work a few years ago on the C900 board.
