Remember that Saab is a *very* low volume manufacturer. Even relatively small Volvo sells more cars here in the US than Saab sells worldwide, by a large margin. So the model runs are much longer.
This helps Saab owners, since our 5 year old cars don't look dated, while brands that have much quicker product cycles stick owners with "previous generation" cars within the length of their car loans.
I still think the 9-5 looks great.
