I guess perspective matters.

My wife and I bought a used 2000 9 5 Wagon last fall. She had been driving a 94 Volvo 850 and I have an 89 900, so for us the 9 5 feels we have finally entered the 21st century! It drives great, is amazingly comfortable on long drives--which we do all the time--and we both think it looks great. I guess perspective does matter. Maybe in a few years it will begin to feel "old" and "out of date" to us, but for now we couldn't even imagine a better car. (Well, since we live in Vermont up a long dirt road, AWD would be nice, but there is no way I am buying the 9 2!)
