With the lease on my '01 SE about to end its term, I am faced with replacing the car. I drove an '04 Arc and was very disappointed.
Not only has the body been essentially unchanged over the years, they have started de-contenting (hey, _somebody_ has to pay for those incentives and weaker exchange rate) and dropping the V-6 was a major step backwards.
The 9-5 still compares well against its Euro competition in price and even quality - but only because so many Euro lines have taken a nosedive in reliability lately. When you start factoring in the Japanese and even some of the new American (e.g. Cadillac CTS, Chrysler 300C) products, the 9-5 starts looking very dated.
My gut feeling is that Saab has something up its sleeve for future products, but right now its slim pickin's.
