agree that driving is the main problem with the failings. many here blame poor manufacturing and assembly for their own inability to drive it with the intention to make it last. some friends in a repair shop had a guy bring his spg in for a tranny replacement. once it was done, the guy showed back up in a month and was complaining about the shifting. one of the techs took a drive with him and the guy was slamming gears like it was his little b1tch. no wonder it was failing so soon. similarly, the same shop had a rally car they beefed up with a toyota tranny which ran around $30k because they were having problems keeping the saab rally trannies in the car. well, the toyota tranny failed as well. fact is, when you round corners in a rally car keeping your foot on the gas and using the clutch in and out to adjust the drift through, any tranny (even the most expensive and supposedly 'best' built) will fail. just my 2 cents...
