I agree that the orignal design of the transmission on C900 was not bad. I don't think a lot of people realize that these were designed 30 or 40 years ago and were made with the intent of maybe 100 hp. For that they were fine. But I do not think SAAB understood how far these cars can be taken. They were not built with the idea of putting 200+ hp through them.
I know many people who run 200+ hp in the C900 and do not have problems with the trans.
It is all about maintaining them and knowing how to drive them. Yes it would be nice to drive however one would like to, but even beefed up tranmissions cannot handle clutch dump after clutch dump.
