I think that the engine oil is the heat sink for both the engine and the tranny. The hotter the engine oil gets the hotter the tranny gets. The hotter the tranny gets, the hotter the engine oil gets.
I think the best thing to remedy this is to just put in a bigger/better engine oil cooler and free up the old oil cooler hole for a ram air setup.
The reduced engine oil temp will also reduce the tranny temp at the same time.
Plus, I've never seen engine oil go above 275 degrees. The only time I saw it this high is when I was racing the car on 100 degree days.
Even sitting in traffic at 100 degree days with AC running, the oil temp stays around 210 degrees. Then as soon as I start moving the oil temp reduces to 200.
