Seems like a lot of issues, and for the price of someone else doing all the work, you could have a sizeable down payment on a new car (saw an ad for new Cavalier for $3800, I don't beleive it).
Your wiper assembly sounds like the pulley is slipping, can be pinned on the shaft , or a new used wiper motor can be had on eBay for $10-$20.
Gas smell in trunk could be as simple as a $5 oring or as bad as $450 fuel pump, again buy a used one.
Blinker bulb $2
Master cylinder may be able to be rebuilt $6 kit
Heat shield $88
Steering rack $200 rebuilt

All these things involve labor. Most of the folks on this board will jump in and tackle the jobs themselves, for obvious cost savings, as demonstrated.
In my opinion, if I did not do my own labor, there is no way I would be able to afford to keep my classic Saab, especially since there is virtually no collector value to them. For what I would have to lay out on a yearly basis, I might be able to drive a new luxury car. Saab labor is not cheap, and those that fix them professionally have no interest in saving money on parts.
