Glad to be of help. What I was trying to emphasize is that fluid leaks can be tricky to isolate, especially if the fluids are the same color as is the case with most power steering and brake fluids. There is the possibility that the brake master cylinder needs replaced because a seal inside is shot and the internal bore surface might be corroded to the point where new seals inside won't help. If that's the source of the leak the fluid will be leaking from the base or from where it attaches to the large circular vacuum boost unit. Oftentimes it's just as well to replace the whole thing with a new one. But if it's from the reservoir seal, it should be evident once the area is cleaned up. Same goes for the steering rack. Once that area is cleaned up and wiped free (a chore best done with the car lifted enough so you can wipe all the effected areas underneath), then you can see where any leak originates. Sometimes with older cars it's the hoses connected to the power steering pump. A simple tightening of the clamps on the pump or replacing the hoses is the solution, not replacing the entire rack! Another common leak source are the flexible hoses at the point where they connect to the metal tubing that feeds the rack. The practical solution is to replace them, but not the entire rack! As far as the pulley goes, unless a specific test is done to determine it's soundness, it might in fact be fine. Not simply suggesting a replacement because it's convenient with the rack removed, which might not be necessary in the first place!

Fluid leak source analysis takes some time and effort to correctly determine, which a lazy mechanic might not be inclined to do.
