I don't consider your response a flame, I welcome the open discussion from people with various backgrounds and knowledge-bases. The free flowing of ideas is how discoveries are made (or debunked). Einstein was considered a wingnut by many scientific-minded people until they could grasp his concepts--now he's a genius with a bad haircut. Sometimes you have to color outside the lines.
I'm not a scientist, I'm a creative (at least that's what they tell me). I've always been trained to keep an open mind, but sometimes this means playing devil's advocate as well. Some things don't make sense until you have the "ah-ha" moment. There are no definites, rights or wrongs when you are conceptual blockbusting. You can't weed out what won't work too early on or it will be too easy to just give up and accept your miserable failure (however inevitable it may ultimately be).
There are still experts in many fields who have been trying to figure out such things as how the pyramids were built. There are still no "definite" answers as to how, yet there they are. I don't believe in "magic". I do believe that we've not even scratched the surface of potential scientific or engineering discoveries. Even if I can't write a dissertation on how a HHO generator accomplishes what it proportedly does, it doesn't matter. I'm not looking for anyone to label me a genius and pat me on the back, just trying to save some of my hard-earned jack that I'm currently using to burn an inefficient and ecologically detrimental fuel in my car. Hell, I wouldn't even tell the nay-sayers "I told you so" If it did work. I'd just share what I'd learned.
I do agree that there are a lot of snake-oil salesmen out there trying to make a buck at the expense of the optimist. But there are too many intelligent people also working on this in an open-source environment for it to be totally unworthy of further exploration.
Twenty years ago, if someone told me I could even be having this discussion globally, electronically, in real time, I'd probably have told them; "No friggin' way". Yet, thanks to engineering pioneers, here we are.
