This might sound a bit crazy, but if your going to use J-B Weld, why not instead try using some metal shimming material. A selection of feeler gauge will do.. The only other thing to do is rebuild the metal and machine it back down. If the bearing is all metal your can heat it up and slap it in place while slipping the metal shim in place. I wouldn't tap. the race on unless heated. When it cools the tolerances will be tight. I use to do this at times when working on VW air cooled engines. This is a tough project, but you addressed it before complete failure. There is also a product called "Redi Sleeve" for crank shaft pulleys that have a wear groove in them from the oil seal riding for 100.000 miles. It's a very thin sleeve you put over the shaft but, you might have to sand the bearing race to fit. Heat with this job is your friend. Just be sure the bearing doesn't have a plastic carrier for the ball bearings. Heat only the bearing! Unless you can get another case part, there not a whole lot you can do.
