S Carlson,
That's very unfortunate and the only fool-proof repair is to replace the front case half. Building it up with JB Weld poses the possibility that bits of it may flake off and wander through the unit blocking oil passages and causing damage. Welding it up and then filing it back down while in the car would be a really good trick but talk to a local welder about that, it may be worth a try. If you have to take it out to do that you may as well just replace the front case. With that spindle being worn down it also poses the potential for it to break off under heavy load and while JB Weld will build up the void it won't strengthen it any. Show it to a welder. Good luck.
