I'll check the valve again to make sure that's the way it's set up. I now have 3 of them to compare.
However, I think that you have the theory backwards. When the bulb gets too cool, the valve should open, increasing low side pressure, increasing low side temperature to a point where the evaporator won't freeze. When the valve gets hot, the valve should close, dropping the low side pressure, which drops the temperature in the evaporator. Also, consequently, increasing the high side pressure and making the condensor hotter.
Which is why my valve has me puzzled, since heating it opens the valve.
