Boy, is your system ever screwed up. You should be getting sub-60 out the vents. You know that. The valve should open more when you remove the "bulb" from the pipe. Forget compressor suction, the compressor is always sucking. Fact is, the valve should increase flow when the evap temperature rises, and it should decrease flow when the evap temperature drops. You know that intuitively. The function of the valve is to regulate flow, and the proper response is to increase flow when the temp is too warm and decrease flow when the temp is too cold.
Your pressure sounds roughly OK, but your temperature is not. Maybe you should install a valve in your heater hose so you can shut off the flow. I did that to mine: No difference, but my vent temp is in the 50's, not the 70's. Could be you're mixing warm air with the cold.
I just don't understand why the temp and pressure rise when you unclamp the bulb. That just isn't right. The valve should open, flow should increase, temp should drop, pressure should drop.
What do the pipes feel like? Is the low-side pipe cool? Is the high-side pipe warm to hot?
