If I may press my case, councellor: Cooler = lower pressure, hotter = higher pressure. That's the way gasses work, right (hotter = expansion, cooler = contraction)? When the bulb gets too cool, it means the gas flow needs to be reduced (to keep the evap from freezing up); thus the valve should tend to close.
The temperature and pressure drop with more gas flow (more open valve), because more gas flow gives more heat exchange (more refrigeration). The temperature and pressure rise with less gas flow (less gas flow = less refrigeration = higher temperature = higher pressure).
It's confounding stuff, I tell you ... it's hard to keep it all straight. One minute I understand it and the next minute I don't, although the more I'm faced to wrestle with it, the better I understand it (as is the case with everything!)
