I agree that a 91/92 would be the best bet, I have a 92 and my dad a 97. Although overal the 97 seems to fit together a bit better, it is more luxury oriented, if you want a car that is fun to drive go for the 91/92. If you go down the 14 year old car road make sure to take note that you get what you pay for. Although I only paid $1900 for my 92 9k turbo with 107k on it, I have since invested $2000 to completely fix the tcs problems(all new tb, ecu, and wheelsensors along with alot of techII time) and I still need to buy a new di and fix my heater core. I would say that your best bet would be to put down the larger amount of money required to buy a pristine car and not worry about problems down the road.
