Did you ever stop to wonder what the real correlation of depreciation with the 'perceived' value is? If a car doesn't depreciate as fast as another, but splits in two when t-boned in an accident, does that mean someone has been seduced for buying the vehicle which depreciates at a faster rate but is, statistically proven, a safer vehicle? Andrew, you seem to base all your anecdotes on your experiences with "juniors" 9000. IIRC, his was one of the 1st years of their production - I would have thought you would have reserved judgement on the marque until you at least drove and worked on the later models, which were vastly improved. Just what experience do you have with, say, models which used the B234 engines? Usually, whenever I see your posts I tend to ignore them because they are so negative and not really in the spirit of what others come here for - helping one another. If you think the only help you can give someone is to steer them from saabs to hondas, perhaps you should change your strategy: why not go post on the honda board and say something positive - about how much fun it is to drive a honda! No, I don't think you can because you obviously get great enjoyment telling all of us how stupid we are because we don't buy what everyone else buys........it's really sad to see this kind of logic from an otherwise quite intelligent BB. Anyway, Gene - all cars have both good and bad aspects. If it were my daughter, I'd want her in a vehicle where the passenger compartment remained intact, if there were a major accident. It may require more maintenance than a honda, but for me, safety is the number one priority - and there seems to be more and more careless, dangerous drivers.......but that's another rant!
