Well... either you misunderstood what I thought I wrote, or I wrote it poorly. I *never* said to drive around, other that the short time necessary to test, without the brake light functional. I just re-read what I posted and you are mistaken thinking I said that.
Also, you will get more than base boost in 1st or 2nd. I know you don't believe me but you will. Don't believe me? disconnect the BCV/BPC connector and see how it runs... Hopefully you don't consider *that* unwise too? LOL.
In fact, the connector I was talking about was the *other* one, the one that disengages the cruise control, the one that I still believe will help in diagnosing what the issue is. Meaning if the cruise control override switch at the pedal being jumped around *then* makes the crusie control work... I don't believe the clutch pedal has anything to do with the brake lights, do you?
The point about jumpering around the switch at the pedal was on a stick that has both switchs (one brake and one clutch) in series, meaning hit either pedal and get the same result, kicks you out of cruise. So I shorted around one switch for his drive back to AZ with the suggestion he replace the switch.
As to the ECU, I believe he stated that removing the W vacuum line gave kick in the pants boost (or did I read that on the other board?), as you mentioned this would tend to meaning that everything that causes boost is working, it's the part that ALLOWS boost isn't.
So at this point I'm done. Let the board know what the solution is when you guys figure it out.
I have to go play with my Saabs now.
