You have the pinout info for wrong year cruise control Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: What if the cruise ECU has an issue getting power?, Steve C., Thu, 17 Jul 2008 20:26:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have slightly different information on the pinout for the 1994 cruise control; perhaps one of us has a diagram or chart from an earlier or later version. Here's what I have:
Pin 1 (red) - "Sense" (what I am calling CRUISE ENGAGED; factory manual says +12V = ON (which I think is incorrect), also connects to one side of vacuum pump motor. I believe that when cruise is engaged, the module closes a relay in the cruise control module that provides a path for Pin 1 to ground, otherwise Pin 1 floats at whatever voltage is present on the ECU or pump motor (which at +12V would not energize the motor). Another page I have from the SAAB factory manual is incorrect in the sense described, and I do recall testing that)
Pin 2 - unused
Pin 3 (red/wht) - "Set"
Pin 4 (yellow) - "Resume"
Pin 5 (red/wht) - "Deactivate"
Pin 6 (dk green) - "Pump Control"
Pin 7 (green) - "Pump Control" (I believe that this supplies +12V to the vacuum pump)
Pin 8 (black) - Ground
Pin 9 (white) - "Deactivate"
Pin 10 (red) - "Power" (i.e. +12V)
Pin 11 (green) - "Speed Input"
I have not looked at this for years, so perhaps I am mistaken, but based on my notes, if Pin 1 is at ground, then it is telling the ECU that cruise is engaged and allows the vacuum motor to operate. Furthermore, if there is no path to ground on Pin 1 (module unplugged), then the ECU can not get a signal that cruise is ENGAGED.
I thought that you were going to give up on cruise control and try to get boost working? Have you tried unplugging the connector to the cruise control module yet?
