Engine drag is greater with a thicker oil resulting in lesser fuel economy. We need to find a happy medium between protection and less drag. With synthetics oil can be thinner and provide superior protection to thicker non synth's. I'm a fan of synthetic 5w30 and am just hearing of using delvac 15w40 used in diesels. I've heard of using it in much older 2.3 volvo engines but with the oil passages in the newer saab engines I cannot justify the risk of slow flow. Someone please list the pros/cons of delvac.
Thanks
