Thanks for all the tips, I think I'll just put an exhaust on and drive it.

Everything inside/outside the car looks brand new, including the passenger seat. They even cleaned the engine once a year or so, I've never done that to a car unless I needed to work on it. When someone scratched a door in the parking lot, the body shop came and took it away the same day.

Worst case, I have the best looking beater on the block. My g/f thinks it's worth it just for the leather seats (LOL)

A lot of things just don't work. He said his mechanic sees a lot of newer 9-3 cars with the same things wrong, and they do not tolerate road salt well that is why some of the problems. All the cars coming off GM leases being sold off cheap, nobody wants to take this one in trade with the problems. It was his second car, driven a lot, 20k per year for three years, and long trips. I know sometimes over 1000 miles per week. Synth oil changed 4x per year, filters twice as often, so I figure he knew he was wearing it out. I assume title is ok, an accountant does all the paperwork which is why all the records.

His mechanic offered to show me how to pull the valve cover off to replace the gasket and some small plastic parts sitting on the shelf they had spare, and point out which hoses still may need replacing, n/c. Then I am on my own. Comes with a couple gallons of oil and a few saab filters, so I can live with the leak for a while.

Thanks again.
