It was bought with 15k miles, now 87. It was driven a LOT, on all kinds of roads, summer and winter. The body has no rust, just the exhaust, rear brakes, brake lines, some of the wiring insulation under the hood... road salt. Forgot to say the windshield is pitted, but low on the passenger side, you can hardly notice. The hood was too, but it was refinished last fall.

I was told cost of fixing everything out of warranty is more than the car, even after 4k spent. I figure if they are wrong, I am ahead. Better than if they told me it was nothing, and I paid $2-3k. I can't see being taken advantage off here, it's the same guy who paid me a year-end bonus that covers the car and a new exhaust, easy.

The mechanic tells me most of the things fail on other Saabs too, even the 9-3, this one is no different, just all in one year... belt and pulleys, ignition cassette, O2 sensors, fuel pump, (now fixed)... coolant leaks (still leaks a little)... AC, cruise control, turbo control valve, fog lights, trip computer display, seat heater, antenna, oil and steering fluid leaks, exhaust, brakes, rear door latch, (not fixed). I see posts here about some of that, but I have not read them all.

Said he did not know what caused the intercooler to crack at the joint, only found that from the sound and it was a bad design, whatever THAT means. I noticed there is no heat shield on top of the turbo like on the 9-3, maybe that caused the intercooler to crack?

He said he only did the rear shocks and put the sway bar on because the owner wanted it done. He test drove the car before and after, and said it was minimal difference to him, but he does what he is paid to do. I asked about the engine and the headgasket, and he said definitely not leaking there, and they put some kind of probe into the engine and inside the oil pan when the oil leak started and it looked like new.

I can't really keep asking questions, he is going to take the car to his shop this weekend and replace the engine cover gasket for free, I already asked about the battery, and he said he put in an optimum care battery a year ago, and the battery and new cables will outlast this car.
