that Saab had in the mid nineties. It was an 80k mile warranty with a $250.ºº deductible (I think it was $250?). This warranty was too costly to administer, and a royal pain for the dealer. It wasn't widely used, therefore it was dissolved. Cancellation had nothing to do with GM, just economics. Simply put, it wasn't worth the trouble.
The warranty was basically a trumped up powertrain warranty. It covered the major systems on the car (ECU's, engine, transmission, etc.) The cat. converter is covered under the Federally required emissions warranty which was extended by the Major Systems warranty. I'm not sure the of the exact wording of the law, but I think that the manufacturer is required to cover the emissions system for a term longer than the warranty (7 years maybe?). I'm sure I'm off, but I'm in the ballpark, at least.
I'm sure that most of you remember the warranty, it was effective from model year '94 until '96 or '97.
Cheers,
Brian.
