I recommend calling Saab and asking to appeal the decision. Within the last few months, using technical information I found on these boards, I was able to get Saab USA to pay for parts for my ten year old Saab which was, incidentally, not fixed at a dealer. It was a substantial amount of money. I, very politely by the way, kept asking to talk to a person higher up. After about four calls I was called and simply offered money. I think it is a very serious problem when dealers do work that is not authorized and ignore the clear direction of the car owner to do the work if it is under warrentee. Car dealers make their money in the service department, not the sales department. I was thinking of taking my 2001 to the local dealer, who I don't trust, for the 10,000 mile check, which is free. After reading this I am going to take it back where I bought it, about 130 mile drive. I would rather take the time, have a nice ride in the country with no hassles. Since I leased the car there was no incentaive for me to go to this dealer but I think it is important to vote with your feet. That is ithe only way that the owner of the dealership will pay any attention to the service department.
