I do plan replacing the rear shocks myself if I have the time, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to tackle the fuel pump myself too. The turbo does boost very well, but the car does have the latest PCV update so it's got to be the turbo according to my mechanic. I have a shimmy at 65mph that I'm trying to get rid of. I've been told that it's a bunch of little things causing the problem, but that the biggest contributing factor is failing struts and apparently the shocks and struts are starting to leak at each corner. The ride is also kinda rough, sounds boomy when going over bumps, and leans quite a bit in the corners. I stopped by my mechanic yesterday to ask them about the fuel pump and the service writer told me that sometimes they get loud before they fail rather than failing without warning.
This leads me to another question I've had for a while. Do all 9-3s have a shimmy in the front end? I looked at 4 or 5 9-3s before I decided on this one and all but the one I bought had a shimmy/shake in the front end; the shimmy/shake developed a month after I bought it. I assumed it was something like bad ball joints on the other cars, but it is apparently almost impossible to fix on my car.
