I understand that the Saab is a much better car than the HHR. However, my comments about the HHR were about the car itself, not necessarily a head to head comparison to Saabs.
- The plastics are very cheap, perhaps the worst out there, even compared to "cheap korean cars"
- The ergonomics are terrible, the window switch located in the floor of the center console, beyond the shifter is not acceptable. I didn't get in the back seat but would think it has something like that too.
- The buttons on the steering wheel are for tiny fingers, perhaps they were made to be used with the pinky finger all the time.
- Although fuel efficient, there was no pep whatsoever, perhaps okay for the class that it competes in. However I have driven my sister in law's Kia and it felt much better.
- Styling is on the eye of the beholder, I didn't like it....yeah, just like the PT cruiser it looked nice at first, but 10 minutes later I was over it...
- Blind spots....
- ABS? I had to slam on the brakes once and it brought me back to 1990...no pulsating, just a big skid mark
- There are better cars in the price range. The LS model starts at 19K, you can get a Golf (rabbit), Mazda 3, Civic, Impreza, just to mention some.
