I would say th Sab, from your list, would be the best, quality wise. the A6 have been a disaster. That Mercedes was probably one of the best they ever built, but they are terribly expensive to fix. Saams the Saab has the best mix or repair frequency and cost (not cheap, but not much breaks, either).
For my money, in that category, I'd seriously consider a VW Passat Wagon. In 2000, 4Motion also became available. I'd recommend the V6, from a reliability standpoint, and its the only engine available with the 4Motion. the 1.8 turbo four felt lethargic lightly loaded, never mind filled to the brim. We had a 99 GLX that we replaced with the 9-5, but the Passat was well finished, and was well built.
