actually, a few of us have determined fairly certainly on a dyno that the stock ecu, even with a rrfpr, is not sufficient enough fuel delivery for high boost, high hp applications. i ran about 19 psi peak, then tapered to 14, then oscillated between 14 and 11psi for peak rpm. fuel curve showed that after about 4500-5000 rpm, fuel went lean, enough to cause predet and kickback boost. this was with a rrfpr and 30# injectors. all other modififed 900t's showed a similarly leaning out at higher rpm. steve y ran and was able to maintain 21-22 lbs of boost throughout, but his h20 injection saved him, his fuel curve still went lean. adding a 5th injector, especially with 21# injectors will help, and may also be a neccessity for cranking up the boost, unless you go to higher rated injectors. there are various cures for this. i think steve is working up installing more injectors and a controller. me, i'm looking at an aftermarket programmable ecu. could also just stick in some h20 injection and not worry about it. but, just imagine the power potential with a perfect fuel curve. only ones we saw on the dyno were stock turbo's, that was a nice flat curve. everything tweaked went lean. just some thoughts.

if i were to give recommendations to someone cranking up the boost, i would say go aftermarket programmable ecu for around $1200-1400. by the time you are doen buying band-aids (as i have done - rrfpr, msd-btm, etc.) you will have already paid the same amount, or close. also, any future changes in the set up can be dialed into the computer. is my car faster than stock, yes(about 70-80 hp over stock). is it fun, yes. could it be improved, yes. i think the power bug stays with you for as long as you know there is something you could be doing better. this damn fuel thing has me in a bind. hopefully early next year i'll have the new ecu and a nice flat curve, then there will be more smiles.

btw, if you are looking at moving the power band around, even with cams, get some adjustable gears. that way you can move the power band around to exactly where you want it. no grind is perfect and the gears enable you to fine tune your exact setup. good luck.
