"That is a missconception. The T7 does not control torque, but controls air mass flow that does relate to torque. When you reduce back the work that the turbo has to do, the wastegate makes the turbine work less hard, and that reduces the exhaust manifold turbine back pressure that the directly increases HP. And as the turbine is working less hard, it is generating less heat. When the air cools through the IC, it is getting compressed. So the less heat to reject the less of that virtual conpression occurs and that reduces compressor effort even more."
Dean, all this you say would be true in a ideal world where T7 would be able to cope with the new HW, which I strongly doubt. Oh yes power could be added with the same airmass if all other parameters would also ajust to fit the new HW parts. One other thing that you have fully failed to take into account are adaptions, like fuel, boost (loaded air) etc.
Above you made the assumption that airmass will remain the same with changed HW parts. How did you come to this conclusions?
Here is one simple example for you all to see, look at the picture below
Car 2002 viggen
blue= stock
pink= new intake pipe to turbo
Does it seem to you that the ECU does pull the same ammount of airmass when in stock shape and once modified? The answer is NO. Does this affect output, DEFINATELY
the charge air adaption limit is +/-25%, so there will be plenty of room for the ECU to adapt down... once new HW parts are istalled
Since this issues seems to interest quit a few people, I find it really strange that ralely few of us actually dig down into this issue with actual measurement data. OBD-loggers for instance are fairly sheep and they can provide alot of useful data despite their limitations.
