The MAF flow is under closed loop control, so I have to wonder why it would change.
You talk about VE. Well as long as the mass air flow is corrected and we agree somewhat constant, then one could argue that the VE does not change*. The only thing that I can see that is changing is the turbine back pressure as the compressor effort is reduced. And that turbine back pressure has a direct effect on torque. Now as one reduces the turbo effort and turbine back pressure, there are also other secondary effects in our favour, such as the compressor having to develop less pressure to maintain that constant VE, as there is then less residual exhaust gas remaining in cylinder to oppose the forced induction of the charge air. There are a few issues of this nature that make more power for a given mass air flow as the intake restrictions are reduced. For other readers of the thread, it is not uncommon for an OEM turbo setup to have over 30 PSI of turbine back pressure for 15 PSI of boost. So roughly a 2:1 ratio must be assumes until one has specific measurememts.
* VE does not change: As long as the air mass flow is the same before and after a T7 intake mod, then the air mass per combustion cycle does not change, so the VE by definition then is invariant. (For otherwise same conditions.)
