Just about all V6 that I start cold have quite a bit of shudder (misfire) during the idle up faze. First I was wondering about it but now I have felt it on all of them so that is probably how they are.
The ME9 ECU have misfire history logged even if no CEL comes on if it is severe enough.
This car kept setting misfire code and CEL for cylinder #1 every now and then and I have been looking at it for 1.5 year.
First time around I put one new coil and new spark plugs all around doing a 30K major service.
4K miles later it was back and I thought it might have been a bad coil or that I accidentally cracked the spark plug so I put a new coil in again and one new spark plug.
2.5K miles later it was back and I replaced the remaining 5 coils thinking maybe the fuel computer is not smart enough to keep track of which cylinder is which. Certain Volvo's are that way that it flags the wrong cylinder for misfire.
This time around 5.5K miles later, I spent a whole bunch of time during a full week with multiple cold starts and narrowed it down to that cylinder #1 had lower compression and leak through for a few seconds during start up.
But the kicker is it didn't happen every time and many cold starts, it fired up fine and ran well.
