Almost on track on the aircraft panel, but brushed aluminum? Not on a bet! Panels are flat painted matte gray usually. The Aero trim finish would NEVER make it up there.
Some mid 70's Piper Cherokees used a finish of simulated wood, non unlike a cheap Dodge K car( yech),but thankfully no longer. Also, to previous poster who referenced this, the actual panel was not wood structurally on those planes, but it was that chintzy stick on vinyl applique stuff.
Older planes did use actual wood for dash, but then again, most of the plane was also made of wood, so no big deal.
Main reason Saab has to use a dressy material for aesthetic reasons is that the competition is doing so. These cars are not being purchased by pilots exclusively, but by regular Joes as well. It's just too bad that they have missed the mark so badly this year, at least just my opinion.
