First of all... I am not a big freak of
wood in cars. There are some reasons for
this.

a) Safety: wood can splinter during a crash
b) Ecology: Modern fake woods look just as good

So...

Ever look into a brand new Lexus 430... This spring
I was in S.CA and went to a Lexus dealer, when he showed
us the available wood trims... he later added that except
for the top of the line trim, all other woods were fake
and Lexus had decided doing that for obvious reasons
like safety and ecology... I was very surprised cause
after looking at the fake wood... well it looked very good.

So do I like wood in cars.. ahem well, yes I like the
wood loke provided that it's nice fake wood.

So what should SAAB do for its new 2002 9-5 cars.

1) Don't offer a single design, I think that
every 9-5 should simply come with the plastic
dash fitted, !!!"BUT"!!! a wood/carbon/silver dash trim
of the customers choice should simply be included
in the price. It takes the dealer about 30 minutes to
fit any trim. Have seen it when I got my carbon trim.

And then ship those plastic dashes back to Sweden
to be fitted into the next 9-5s for the US.

This would fix the problem with the trim choice once
and for all, and there should be about 10 basic choices
for dash trim.

2) Offer some premium dash fittings, which for
a moderate extra can be had with special wood, silver
whatever, so if the customer wishes this he can get it.

Regards,
Coolknight
