How fast do you usually drive? I have a 2.3t wagon automatic, which turns over little more than 2k rpm on highway cruise. I did hit close to 5k rpm once, but the car was rapidly accelearating past 100mph. As soon as my wife pointed out to me how fast I was going, I lightened up my foot, and the transmission promptly upshifted, resulting in much lower rpm even at 100mph.
