Reasons why Arc might be appealing vs Aero if you want an auto tranny:
- Available in more paint colors
- Includes wood dash instead of ugly silver one
- Includes auto tranny ($1200 option in Aero)
- Includes vented seates (not available in Aero)
- I'm guessing that the Arc has a little faster/smoother acceleration off the line due to the V6 (like in 0-20mph range). Aero has a bit of turbo lag, not much power below 2000rpm, tons of power otherwise. Accelerating from 0-20 happens much more frequently than 0-60 for most of us.
The benefits of the Aero are:
- More overall power and speed
- 17" wheels
- Sportier appearance due to body kit
- Available with manual tranny if you like that
- More laterally supportive sport seats
- Lighter weight, better fuel economy
- Tighter suspension? Not sure about this.
- Some would argue better longevity and lower maint costs for engine
I currently have a 2000 Aero, but I have to admit that if I was shopping for a 2002 model, I might have a hard time choosing between the Arc and Aero. I personally like the wood dash, auto tranny, vented seats, and the Sun Green paint color.
