Let's get a few things out of the way:

1) Saabs are great cars. Hell I must agree with this statement I pay a very high price every month to drive an 9-5 Aero !!! :-)
2) Saabs are fast.
3) Saabs are safe.
4) Saabs look awesome.
5) Saabs are for true individualists/non-conformist.

Having said all that I still come back to the point that Japanese cars can be great too. The Maxima happens to be a perfect example of a great Japanese car. It's fast, luxurious and well-built. To top it off it is very reasonably priced.

Next, to the point of acceleration times on Maximas (6 speed manuals in specific)... they indeed do finish the sprint to 60mph around 6.0 secs flat and maybe a tenth or two more to 100 km/h. The 1/4 mile comes in around 14.6 secs at around 96 mph. The reason for the quick sprint to sixty is due to a short ratio second and third gear (keeps the motor right in the power band) and the quarter mile is reasonable even through power to weight ratio calculations. I hate to say this, but the Maxima will win a race from standstill to about 100 mph (1/4 mile) against the Aero. The cause for our Aeros to lose is mainly the boost limiting feature on first and second gears. I am sure all fellow Aero drivers have experienced this annoying feature that Trionic 7 has bestowed upon us. This is the same feature that keeps us in the high five seconds to low second range to sixty even when our cars are chip tuned to 300 hp. The place where we have a chance against the Maxima is on the highway where our gorgeous Swede beauty will easily show off her long legs !!! :-)

BTW: 5.4 sec 0-60 time for an M5 is ridiculous. I have seen nothing higher than 5.0 secs flat !!!
