The Passat is a lot of car for the money, but the Linear is a lot more car in every department. First the car then the money. The 9-5 has as standard equipment,
Leather - cloth is availible, but no price break
Moonroof - can be deleted, again at no price break
Power seats - does the Passat have power windows and power locks with
remote keyless entry and security system, as well as cruise?
Dual zone digital climate control
Heated Seats
Wood dash, genuine
CD & cassette
Alloy wheels
Fog lights front & rear
5 mph bumpers
SID Saab Information Display - multi function trip computer
Fold down rear seats with ski pass through
Onstar - 1 year free service
3/36 free maintenance
More horsepower, torque, displacement and still the same gas mileage
Higher quality
Unique safety features, key on console, Saab active head restraints
Dual force Next Generation air bags
Anti-lock brakes
Traction control, electronic brake force distribution
Night Panel feature
Headlight washers
Cooled glove box, world's coolest cup holder
AND MORE!

And now price. Saab is offering a $419 36 month, 12k mi/yr leasee with only $1,999 down or 0% financing or $3,000 allowance for cash or using your own financing.

The Passat is really closer to the other Saab mid-size the 9-3 at only $27,990 with most of the above features and a $299 lease. The 9-5 is up a a class more closely matching the Passat GLX, Audi A6, Volvo S80, BMW 525, Mercedes E320.
