Hi Folks,
I've read the discussion about Passat vs Saab because I'm in the middle of deciding on which car to purchase -- 2002 Passat GLX V6 or 2002 9-5 Aero.
I've struggled with the decision because I like both cars. I like the German engineering and can attest to it's durability. My first new car was a '86 GTI and I loved the car. It drove like the energizer bunny without a hitch.
My first memory of a Saab was one owned by my uncle when I was 7 years old. I was fascinated by the design and quality. Ever since then I dreamed of owning a Saab but could not afford one.
I have to agree with the point that the two cars, Passat & 9-5, are in a different category. The Saab should be compared to the Audi A6, Volvo S80, BMW 5-series and MB E-Class.
Well, I've worked hard all my life and I have saved my pennies so that I can now afford a Saab. I'm looking forward in getting the 9-5 Aero. The 9-5 offers the safety, comfort and quality that I want. It has an understated elegance that does not create a perception that I'm a snob.
