I have SPENT the past several days researching the Saab suspension issues (thanks Steve) and I have to agree with Steve on this one, the PROBLEM probably lies in worn springs. I also have to agree that shims Will fix the camber, but for me that isn't good enough! I want the car to sit properly also. I will probably install the shims since i have them and it won't take much to install them. But I don't plan on keeping them, I will either fab a spacer to raise my current springs or replace them. Yes this car did hit a curb and bent one spindle but it has been replaced and the car obviously sags! anyone can see it! I have gone thru the entire rear suspension verifying measurments with another car that does not sag and nothing is out! only thing I didn't check was the springs, but again it is quite noticable as you jack up the car the wheels straighten so common sence tells you it is just sagging to much. so in my opinion it boils down to this, a simple tire wear fix is to shim the Camber and live with the rear sitting a inch or so low. or the more difficult and expensive job to solve everything is to replace the rear springs or everything (springs and shocks/strut). I am probably more of a perfectionist then many as well! I also spent 10 years as a Saab mechanic /Service manager prior to the 9-5 so I know the 900's and 9000's inside and out and do 98% of all my own work, i did have to have someone else do the alignment. but anything else I do my self!
in this post I was really curious if anyone had swapped out thier springs to raise the rear instead of lower a stock SE?
